I am so excited to be a part of Radical Connections programming. I believe that connecting through art offers us essential healing ingredients: joy, humour, and authentic expression. As a facilitator, I aim to create spaces that allow for our mutual vulnerability, imperfection and humanity.

Kim Kilpatrick has always been steeped in the arts. Always a story teller, always wanting to work with people. Kim is proud to be a totally blind artist. As an artist with a disability she will help us to shape the program with accessibility in mind and connect with people in care with similar experiences.

I am very excited about this programming - I have always enjoyed interactions with the senior members of our communities. I think it's of the utmost importance to be engaged with them, enjoying their company and valuing them as much as possible in their later years.

When I go on tours as an actor and musician, we always make a point of visiting Seniors residences and hospitals.

This simple thing brings so much joy. Faces light up and feet tap along with the music.

I so look forward to being able to share in this way again. This is a wonderful project and I'm so happy to be part of it.

I believe that the trauma of being distanced from one another and being without community is one that is real and has lasting effects. Online programming has the power to bring folks across the world together to share a moment that they may have never shared otherwise.

Music is a way for us to feel connected to each other. My late grandpa was a big influence on me. He could play guitar and piano and harmonica and would sing songs. Despite dementia causing him to forget the family’s names, he could always play well. When he sat down at the piano, the rest of the patients and nurses would all quiet down as they listened. There is something about music that evokes memories and emotions in us that can be nearly inaccessible through other methods.

Music, poetry and stories lift us out of the daily concerns we have and take us to unexplored territories. They can comfort us, lift us, awaken our curiosity and enliven our relationship to the world and to each other. It is exciting to imagine what may happen when an artist meets a new audience member one on one to see how the music or the word might unfold this time, and to witness together a little new world come to life.

People have been telling stories for a very long time. Stories take us on journeys, they comfort us, encourage us, make us laugh, invite us to reflect, give us insight. There are so many ways to hear and see stories today — but person to person lets us connect with one another as nothing else does!

This kind of program is important to me because art is a soul medicine that I enjoy so much and I’ve have always felt the desire to share.

I make healing music. Relax with atmospheric nature sounds. Sing or compose songs with me. Once we enter into the atmosphere of the music, we will be in a beautiful story.
