What is an Artist in Residence?

Artist-in-residence (AiR) programs exist to invite artists for a time and space away from their usual environment. They emphasize the importance of meaningful and multi-layered cultural exchange and immersion into another culture or environment. They provide a time of research, presentation, production, and collaboration. Check out the Carol Wiebe AiR program.

What are “Reminiscence Arts”?

Reminiscence Arts incorporates the elements of creative art and artmaking, such as painting or storytelling into the exploration of past life experiences. When done effectively, Reminiscence Arts can have a profound impact on relationships, learning, care, and creativity in the present.

Why Artists in Palliative Care?

When done properly art in palliative care allows the safe exploration of patients’ deeper questioning and reflection of life experiences. Participants use creation and reflection processes of art making to build on their ability to cope with end-of-life transitions.
