Radical Connections has received Charitable Status!

With the granting of charitable status on February 3, 2023, we are very excited to invite our local community to assist with our fundraising efforts. Our pilot projects with Bruyère have been transformative, reaffirming that Radical Connections is doing what is needed right now.

“It has been a reawakening of my poetic self that was dormant under the weight of illness.... Since the program has begun, I have written four new poems. It has been so enjoyable.”  Denise, a resident in long-term care

Given my years of work as a family physician with expertise in Care of the Elderly, it has been especially moving to see people in long-term care energized and transformed after meeting with an artist of their choice. With your assistance, Radical Connections will be able to connect many more patients and residents with artists, providing opportunities for meaningful interactions for people in care at vulnerable times in their lives. Artists have also found these connections to be inspirational. Participants in our online pilot Unmasked Connections made it very clear that we need to continue and expand this work.

To facilitate these connections and pay artists fairly, we need your help. Thanks to funding from the New Horizons for Seniors Program, we are currently working with the Dementia Society to make artists accessible to people living with dementia in the wider community. We are very grateful for grants like the New Horizons program, but they do not cover all of our costs. Whether these connections are online or in-person, they require in-person support and a platform that is easy to use for scheduling and connecting. We plan to expand access to our programs, first across Ontario, then Canada, with our virtual offerings available globally, both for artists to participate and people isolated by their health care needs.

Are you able to contribute to this meaningful work? Any amount you can donate will make a difference. In addition to a charitable donation receipt, we would like to say thanks with a gift to you.

We have rewards for all kinds of budgets!

  1. For a donation of $20 or more, we will give you a free pass to the latest monthly concert from our Healing Interactive Performance series!

  2. For a donation of $150 or more, we will give you access to the entire 2023 Healing Interactive Performances concert series!

  3. For a donation of $300 or more, we will arrange a private Healing Interactive Performance for you or someone special to you!

  4. For a donation of $500 or more, we will bring a live concert to you or to someone special to you!

Thank you for reading about our projects, and please reach out if you’d like to learn more and get involved with our fundraising efforts.
